Pardon

I suppose it had to happen sometime.
We were sitting watching television and Jan said, 'I hope that's not our car.'
'Sorry,' I said, 'what are you talking about?'
It wasn't until I walked outside that I could hear a house alarm nearby wailing its head off.
That and a bit of tinnitus in my left ear made me visit the doctor. He arranged a hearing test which has confirmed a hearing loss in both ears and the need for hearing aids.
The only upside to this is that I can now legitimately tell Jan that I didn't hear one of her many instructions. Pardon?

  1. Sorry to hear that (!) but I can relate. I've been putting off having a hearing test as I think I'm in a simlar situation. But I really don't want hearing aids - at least not yet. I suppose you can get those fancy "in ear" models at £2700.00. Let me know how you get on with the aids and which type you get please. I'd be interested.

    1. I have been prescribed an over the ear hearing aid which presumably comes free (I know I should have asked but I was still in a state of mild shock). I'll take a picture when I go for my fitting. The small in ear types can be very expensive, as you say around £3000. I can't afford that especially considering that the hearing loss isn't too bad.
