We went to the theatre the other night to see Roesencrantz and Guildenstern at the City Varieties. In order to make more of the trip to Leeds we set off early and looked around the centre and its shops. Wow it's not the Leeds I knew as a youngster. The number and range of 'posh' shops is quite amazing. And they all seem to be thriving.
When I were a lad City Varieties was a strip joint, the sort of place we all giggled about but never went to. How times have changed.
That's funny. We were watching some of the triathlon from Leeds on TV about 10 days ago and we said to each other, "That's not how I thought the centre of Leeds would look". It was meant as a compliment too!
