Wild Garlic

Having lived here for several years I can't count the number of times that Jan has promised to use the wild garlic that grows in abundance in the woods near the house. Well finally she has picked some and has made a delicious soup. Well worth the seven years wait.

  1. Was it a garlic soup, or just garlic used in a soup of some other type? If it's the former, I will probably get a whiff of it up here! We grew some garlic in the garden about 4 years ago and it was lovely - quite mellow.

  2. Just a bit of onion, potato, stock and the wild garlic. It tastes good but the garlic is quite mild. Talking of recipes, - years back you gave your recipe for Russian dressing on your blog (much missed BTW). I made some, liked it, but now have lost the recipe. Do you still make it? And the thought occurs to me - should you rename it? Russian anything sounds too sinister now!

  3. Hi Alex - Yes I still make it. The nerve agent gives it a certain something...I think it's essentially a spicy French (it's the Americans who call it a Russian dressing). I'm off out now for a tour of a new submarine museum (!) and then lunch. I'll email you the recipe tomorrow. Bye for now.
